Awake my soul and sing

Using this as a reminder to myself to put this song on a canvas to make art for the guest room. I'm becoming a total crafter! I guess that's what happens when you have no money to buy "real" art... you get creative and steal ideas off pinterest. I have an upcoming blog post (once I'm finished) to share with all of you my first creation.

Anywho... Here's the lyrics:

Awake, awake my soul and sing
The time for praise has come
The silence of the night has passed
A new day has begun

Let music never die in me
Forever let my spirit sing
Let all our voices join as one
To praise the giver of the sun

This is part of a song that we sung at State Choir my senior year of high school. It was awesome, amazing and totally moving. This song speaks to my soul. Lame, I know, but true. And that's a real rarity for me. It reminds me that I'm a singer at heart and that I need to find time in my busy life to enjoy the music that I love. I'll post here when I finally do something with this song. :)

Bad at blogging

Man, I am really bad about blogging lately. I blame it on the time change.
Our house is so confused after 5 pm.
Tate is ready for bed at 6, but we make him stay up til 7:30 or 8.
Either AJ or I usually go to bed by 8:30 every night. The other person stays up for a while and has free time.
Even our dogs are ready for bed early. It's a sad evening when the house is silent at 8 pm.

Maybe my New Year's resolution will be to blog at least __ times per week.
My blog book will be super lame if I don't get busy!

I'm super excited that this is a short work week and I was actually
super productive today. I wish everyday could be like this!

No pics today because I'm lazy. :)

Random Thoughts

I'm still kinda spacy from this weekend so here's just some random thoughts for today:

  • It is super windy today- yuck
  • Our living room looks like a toy store threw up
  • Our hall looks like the laundry exploded
  • Teething toddlers are not fun sleeping partners
  • There is a wasp/hornet/something similar flying around our house somewhere today
  • We seriously need to unpack, do laundry, wash sippies, etc
  • I heart pinterest, facebook and blogs
  • I need to cut my nails- grew them out for the wedding and now I'm DONE with them being so long. Hard to type!
  • We should probably buy diapers before we run out at 2 in the morning
  • I'm thinking of buying a coffee maker, learning to make coffee and figuring out ways to make it not taste like coffee :)
  • Nicole's wedding was beautiful and it was so fun to see so many friends this weekend and make some new friends
  • I need to pick up some of those stick on nail polish things to try- they look cool
  • I'm really not ready to embrace that today is Monday. The end. For now.
What are your random thoughts for today?

Here's some random pictures to enjoy on this random Monday

November updates

Wow. I've totally been slacking! So let's see... what's new?

Well, Tate is now walking! Craziness!!! He just stood up Friday and off he went.

This is what we've been working towards for so long now. Our main goal. We've done physical therapy for 6-7 months and he's gone from not even sitting by himself to walking. He's such a big boy now and it kinda makes me sad.  Obviously, I want him to continue to progress and this is an awesome step for him. But at the same time, it makes me sad that he's definitely moved into "toddlerhood" now. Just trying to focus on the fun parts and not have a pity party for my baby getting older.

Here's a few pics from this weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Wahlquist's house...

In other news, Tate's Great Great Grandma Metcalf, who is 95 years old, is coming to Kansas City tomorrow! She will be staying with my parents for a couple of weeks and Tate will get to see her for 2 whole weekends. We are so blessed to have her in our lives. It was my greatest desire to have her live long enough to meet my children. We've gotten several 5 generation photos and every picture of her with Tate is absolutely priceless.

Looking forward to a weekend in Wichita starting this Friday afternoon. One of my best friends from college, Nicole Adkisson, is getting married! I'm a bridesmaid so AJ and I are heading to Wichita for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner Friday and then a beautiful wedding on Saturday. And, Tate won't be going so it's a wonderful excuse to spend a few days just the two of us!

Getting excited for the upcoming holidays. We're celebrating Thanksgiving in KC next weekend (18th) and then Thanksgiving in West Plains on Thanksgiving. Saturday, 26th, is my 27th birthday and then we're in full Christmas prep! I've already started Tate's Christmas list and need to get a move on my shopping. I plan on going Christmas-decoration-crazy this year so that Tate gets the full effect!

And last, I've discovered the joy of pinterest. Super cute craft ideas and yummy looking recipes. :)
There are no more new pics because Tate has stolen the camera cord and hidden it somewhere. So you'll just have to use your imagination and hope that we find the cord soon. :)
